Trapeze Vault Release - Version 5.0

The latest version of Trapeze Vault, the complete document storage solution, is now available.

Version 5.0 brings with it several changes including support for the widely used PDF file-format, improvements to the batch scanning component, Vault Capture, and a number of smaller enhancements and fixes, bringing you the best version of Trapeze Vault to date.

Store PDF Files Natively

Files imported into Vault can now be saved in the popular PDF format, widely used for storing and sharing information. With the added support for the PDF format in Vault, organizations are able to get PDF documents in and out of Vault databases easily without any timely conversion between file formats. As an added benefit, PDF files use less disk space than when saved using Vault's other supported format, TIFF.

Vault Capture Update

Several changes have been made to the Capture component in Vault 5.0 to improve the user experience and provide some handy new tools to help scanning staff with their work.
  • The standard toolbar has been updated with larger, more accessible tool buttons
  • New feature allowing appending of scanned pages to an existing working file, as a new document
  • New feature giving users the ability to apply pre-formatted stamps to scanned pages before saving
  • Users have more control over Document Definitions, being able to choose whether they are applied to appended and inserted pages

Installer Changes

The Vault installer package has changed significantly in version 5.0 to allow for a more robust and streamlined installation process. Resulting from the changes are some key considerations that you should be aware of before upgrading.
  • The Vault System installer has become a single executable for ease of distribution
  • Each Vault component now has its own installer; Vault System, Vault Capture, Print2Vault, Webstreamer, and must be installed separately
  • Upgrading to Vault 5.0 requires that any previous version of Vault, including Webstreamer (if using Vault Online) be manually un-installed before upgrading. Existing Vault databases including documents and meta-data remain intact after un-installing previous versions.
